Horton Housing – smaller housing association winner

Congratulations to Horton Housing for winning the smaller housing association award for its Bradford Day Shelter.

The winning project

Bradford Day Shelter provides a wide range of support services for people who are homeless or living in poor quality or unsuitable housing in the Bradford District. Around 120 people access the service every day and it is open seven days a week, including Christmas Day.

In 2016, Bradford Day Shelter celebrates 40 years of offering a lifeline to vulnerable adults in the Bradford District. Over the past four decades the Day Shelter, which is managed by Horton Housing Association, has continued to provide a warm, safe place for vulnerable people to get the help they need to live independently.

Working with a number of partner organisations in the District, the Day Shelter provides an open access and referral point to a wide range of services, including help with housing, healthcare, welfare benefits, drug and alcohol issues, mental health support, and access to food, laundry, clothing and bathing facilities.
