The winning project
Let’s Remember is an intergenerational poppy making project run by Dramatic Action, a community drama and craft group founded by Bolton at Home Housing Association.
They draw on their own experiences of personal barriers to raise social issues through creative and community activities.
The project grew from making poppy brooches to be sold, into a giant project with a poppy installation on the steps of the Town Hall and lamppost poppies across Bolton. Bolton Council has approached the group to make another installation for the Town Hall this year.
Let’s Remember has united the community, connecting people of all ages and from all backgrounds. It has helped reduce isolation, increase confidence and made people feel valued in their community.
What the judges said
Bolton at Home’s ‘Let’s Remember’ used a tiny budget to do massive things. Working with Dramatic Action, Let’s Remember brought together community groups from all over Bolton to make the one of the largest ever public art installations. The project recycled plastic bottles into a beautiful canopy of poppies, raising an incredible £7000.00 for Royal British Legion.
